In this stroke the spark jumps on spark plug gap. Because of this the compressed air-fuel mixture gets ignited. The rapid burning of the air-fuel mixture produces tremendous heat which expands the gases raises the combustion pressure to more than four times the compression pressure. This pressure, exerted on the head of the piston, causes the piston to move down with a tremendous force. In this process the crankshaft rotates further 180 degrees. The total amount of degrees are now 540.
